Offset London: Hult International Business School

Andy Stevens is responsible for creating an exciting and energetic space through the graphics within the renovation of Hult business school for Offset London (see figures 1 and 2). This has been achieved through the use of recycling found material after the renovation into signage to identify different floors within the building and what they feature. Large colourful wooden signage hang on the walls in reception to create an energetic and exciting space allowing people to look forward to their day. Interestingly within this signage Stevens has covered certain sections of the numbers as he recognises that 'most people are familiar with the sequence of 1,2,3,4 therefor they don't need to be able to see the the numbers'. Throughout the signage the use of colour further interests me as, as the levels increase so does the warmth of the colour pallet. This use of colour within a system is something I would like to explore further during my experimentation for my wayfinding system. Throughout the renovation the use of typography inspired by typography further links to the use of found materials as it create an organic and experimental influence to the space.

Throughout the renovation dots (see figure 3) have been used to add further decoration to the doors and glass within the space which has been inspired by prints produced by Charming Baker and Andy Altmann (see figure 4). I find this incorporation of space within the signage system interesting as I plan to use shape and illustrations within my wayfinding system to identify different sections.
