- yes but this could of been more in-depth in order to help develop a greater understanding of the brief and audience I was designing for within studio brief 1.
- as studio brief 2 was quite broad I found it difficult to simply my brief in order to be able to effectively and thoroughly analyse the brief.
Did you think about the context of the brief?
- In relation to studio brief 1 I think I focused too much on creating a concept for the publication without fully considering where the publication would be sold or used which diluted the development of the book.
- For studio brief 2 the context was considered as a website was the most appropriate media for the brief to showcase students work as people are unlikely to download a specific app. However I feel I could of showcased is context more in my final resolutions as I failed to demonstrate how the website would be promoted and connected to the university.
Did you outline the problem?
- for studio brief 1 it was difficult to outline the problems with the brief due to the vague concept/brief received as I had to develop the brief and content of the publication myself which meant the publication got a little lost throughout development, making it difficult to identify key problems that needed to be addressed throughout as the aim and theme of the publication changes throughout development. However I did identify key issues such as the publication had to be durable resulting in the use of non-rip paper, however I feel like this brief would of benefited from greater analysis of the brief which would of allowed for key problems to be identifies.
- throughout studio brief 1 my research was thorough however I feel like it was lost and unnecessary at some points, as some aspects of my research didn't inform the design process. However this is something I corrected during studio brief 2 in which more meaningful research was conducted.
Did you arrive at some ideas through research?
- Most of the ideas/final resolutions where heavily informed by research due to the extensive research conducted in order to help understand the markets I was targeting.
Did you generate more than 1 concept?
- I did generate more than one concept however I only developed one which hampered my design processes and ability to produce a fully resolved solution that I was happy with.
Did you generate multiple visual/creative solutions and did you develop several possible solutions?
- I developed creative solutions and prototypes but only for one resolution which I plan to lean from so I can more effectively develop my design process and work within future work and current modules.
Did you go through an iterative process of experimentation and improvement?
- Yes within both studio brief, specifically studio brief one was developed throughout responding to feedback and my own personal opinion, however I was still unhappy with the final resolution.
Did you propose a number of possible solutions as prototypes?
- no due to the complex nature of studio brief 1 most of my time was spent developing prototypes for one concept.
Did you develop your prototype further?
- yes upon developing a prototype I discovered binding and printing issue that needed to be edited in order to create a more professional outcome
Did you test and experiment with your production process?
- yes 3 prototypes where created in order to test and respond to potential binding issues due to the complex nature of the folds and pages within the publication.
Did you leave enough time to ensure your final outcome was as good as it could be?
- no as I feel I could of gained more feedback from others in order to make a more effective and professional prototype as I feel the final publication for studio brief 1 was too primitive.
