Adonis Specimen: Documentation

In order to document the specimen different methods have been explored such as photography and scanning. Scanning the specimen provides simple high-resolution images of each spread, showcasing the print quality and stock used in an effective manner (see figures 1-13). Furthermore this allows a quick gif to be created showcasing the book. Photography has also been used to showcase the specimen to highlight some of the finer details more clearly such as the shine achieved on the printed black and the depth of the emboss/deboss on the cover (see figures 14-15). Although photography worked well when documenting the cover however it was difficult to get the correct lighting and position when it came to the book box and rest of the specimen as the light reflected off the black ink too much making it difficult to get photos of a high enough standard (see figures 16-18). Therefore further scans were conducted to capture the box in more detail as this method was more effective in documenting and presenting the specimen for online use (see figures 18-25).
