Packaging Tests:
In order to start designing the packaging for Cecilia Fox different nets have been explored and produced to help inform the layout and understand which areas of the box require information. Initially a matchbox inspire box was explored as this would create a more luxurious experience, however I'm concerned this wouldn't be sturdy enough to hold certain ceramic pieces. However this approach will still be considered. In addition a traditional box was explored, with the box closing at the bottom instead of the top, so the lid wrapped around rather than tucked in. Multiple experiments were produced for each in order to determine the correct size that would be needed to hold certain products such as a candle holder, mug and planter (see figures 2-7). Once this has been determined the paper nets could be recreated in illustrator, allowing for design experimentation.

Design Packaging Tests:
In order to explore the use of tape within the packaging test mock-ups have been created in order to see if the design/concept works. Unfortunately due to the thin nature of the tape and placement the packaging looks too loose/unstable reducing the quality of the packaging (see figures 8-9). In relation to the matchbox tests although this would create a more high end, luxurious feel the packaging I don't think the design of the net would be stable enough hold any ceramic piece that was significantly heavy therefore a more traditional box will be used (see figures 10-14). The wrap around box worked well as it provided stability to the packaging but also has an element of luxury too as it doesn't open and close like a traditional box (see figures 11-19). In relation to production ideally cardboard or re-inforced cardboard would be used for the final outcome however I don't have access or the ability to print onto this material therefore mock-ups will be created using a less stable material.
In relation to the design itself the simpler outcomes featuring the Cecilia fox and product over the top and side are most successful. The simplicity fits an older audience with the pattern acting as a supporting element creating a more interesting identity.
