Perfect binding has been used as this allowed for the split in colour/materials half way through the book due to the ability to print each spread as individual sheets that come together when glued. The perfect binding process included aligning each piece of paper to create a flush spin, that was glued whilst sat within a press (see figures 1-2). Securing the paper within a press allowed the paper not to move, allowing a flush spin to be created. The cover was then cut down and a binding press used to create folds for the spin. However the folds are slightly larger than the width of the spin creating some unwanted creasing on the spin. Upon reviewing this process (see figures 3-10) I feel the publication could be improved if the stock was the same thickness as the black card is 300gsm whereas the white is 240gsm creating some issues with the glueing process as it feels loose when you flick through. Furthermore, I feel the cover could be improved if I removed the need for a box, embossing the cover using silver card as I don't feel the box adds anything to the concept. Although having the front cover white and back cover black fits the concept the white cover lacks impact, which I feel could be enhanced using the silver cover.
