Upon presenting the improved specimen I have received feedback to identify if the concept/message is clear and appropriate for the target audience. Overall both peer and tutor feedback found the concept was very clear and implemented well throughout the whole publication. However the audience was more difficult to identify as some saw the specimen as a publication and others saw it as a type specimen, suggesting to identify which context it would be used as this would help refine an audience more. Originally the audience was the general mainly looking at young adults to raise awareness of muscle dysmorphia. The visual nature of the type showcases the two perspectives involved within body and muscle dysmorphia allowing the type treatment and specimen to raise awareness but also potentially help someone affected realise that they could suffer from the Adonis complex as they could identify with the message within the specimen.
Furthermore, it was suggested to explore the first half more as some suggested there was too much of a contrast due to the thinner stock used. However the thinner stock is supposed to emphasise the feeling those affected feel when they look in the mirror, as this section focuses on what those affected see in the mirror, slim/thin therefore having a thinner stock highlighted the concept.
In response, I plan to explore the audience more and the context in which both the specimen and type would be used in, to help develop the brief further.
Audience:
Those affected, may help them realise that they are affected by the condition.
The general public - raises awareness of a condition many are not familiar with.
or
Type enthusiasts interested in body image issues/raising awareness
Context:
Specimen - used to raise awareness of the condition.
Type - social media campaign tackling media ideals surrounding body image.
