Design for Screen: Franklyn Design Studio

Whilst conducting research for another module I found Franklyn's website which showcases their work and studio as a whole. They have a unique approach to showcasing their personalities via the studio section of which, if you scroll over each person an alternative more creative portrait is revealed (see figures 1-2). This interaction and engagement is something I plan to incorporate within my own designs as it allows the personality of the studio and those within it to be conveyed whilst engaging the audience who have to interact with the site to reveal the real nature of the studio. Furthermore Franklyn's feed of recent work provides a snapshot to viewers of their recent project allowing the audience to identify those they want to look into further. This section could be improved by linking the images on the feed to the whole brief to aid usability within the website. Despite this the site is generally very user friendly and intuitive to navigate which aids the discovery of the alternative portraits. In relation to the presentation of each brief a small rational appears followed my images that fill the screen so the work becomes the sole focus of the audience and they are not distracted by any other section of the site. This use of the full screen is something I plan to implement when experimenting with animation on the home page as well as when showcasing the students work.
