Design for Screen: Workflows

Workflow:
Visualises the stages involved when completing certain tasks or the journey a user takes through a system. series of actions a user takes, such as when logging into a website.

When creating the workflows within the site I aimed for users to be able to complete each stage within 3 steps in line with Apples philosophy in order to create a simple and user friendly site.

Without refinement option:
Homepage – scroll down – students – click – students work – scroll up – students or home
With refinement option:
Homepage – scroll down – students – click specialism – students become bold – click –students work – scroll up – students or home

Upon receiving peer-to-peer feedback on my initial workflows many  found the use of infinite scroll very intuitive, however would like a navigational tool to jump back to either the homepage or student area quickly. Consequently I plan to experiment using room 136 at the side of each page so users can click and they will be taken back to the home page (see figure 1). Upon reflection of these experiments I felt the use of having room 136 on the right of the screen constantly acting almost like a scroll bar was most appropriate as it allows users to jump back to the student section by clicking once and then the homepage by clicking twice (see figure 2).
