Design for Screen: Typographic Experiments

Initially when experimenting with which typeface to feature, I experimented with those which where similar to blueprint/coding typefaces as these represent the development that occurs in third year to make students ready for industry, resulting in the discovery of Montserrat, PT Mono and Circular Std. However this approach didn't feel every feel very appropriate which lead to the idea to match the typeface with that featured on the number plates outside the third year studio as the website is named after the room. Consequently Univers was the closest match, featuring similar terminals to the example in figure 1. The use of Univers allows the website to further reference the community of the site as all students work within this one space. In relation to the body text used throughout the sight the tracking has been edited (40) in order to avoid the compact appearance of Univers in a large body of text. This allows the text to be read easily and quickly as the words are more spread out improving the flow of reading.

Montserrat, regular
PT Mono, bold

Circular Std, bold and regular
Univers, roman
