Micro-Music Genre: Pin Badge Research

In order to gain an insight as to how effective my design (see figure 1) is I asked a Liverpool supporter if they knew what the badge was based on without giving them any context. Due to the general nature of the type and illustration (clap) he found it difficult to identify the chant and when told that what the badge was based on he stated that he'd never heard of the chant. This response has made me question the effectiveness of this design as although the design and concept is based on the first football chant its audience, Liverpool fans need to understand the design as it would be given to them with ticket or season ticket purchases or as a product within the store.  When gaining feedback from my tutors they found the concept to be strong and outcome visually effective, however after the feedback gained from the fan I feel I need to experiment with other initial ideas to see if other avenues will create a more understandable outcome as this design is visually effective but I'm unsure if it speaks to the audience enough.
