In order to explore the topic of fake news further I've looked at taking headline form two newspapers and switching there content to see if this alters there authenticity by making them less or more authentic. Therefor I've taken a headline form the Telegraph (see figure 1) and placed it within the aesthetic of the sun newspaper to see if makes the information less realistic. Although the article itself still reads like an authentic article the pop up adds at the side give the article that tabloid aesthetic making the information slightly untrustworthy. In addition I've taken a story about trump and placed it in the aesthetic of the Telegraph (see figure 2) to see if the headline is more believable. The classic and formal aesthetic of the Telegraph allow this article to seem realistic as well as the fact that the headline speaks to peoples preconceptions about Trump. This pairing accuratly comments of fake news as the appeal to emotions is a key aspect of post truth politics which is a key aspect of fake news and when pair with an trustworthy aesthetic the information appear genuine showing how easy it is to believe fake news. Overall this short task has highlighted how easy it is to fall for fake news as by investigating the visual aspects it has allowed me to gain a greater understand as to why we believe fake news so freely, because its very easy to take information at face value. This means if the information is based on something we already believe in and is paired with a trusting outlet it makes the story more believable as we don't tend to question things that speak to our pre-exisiting beliefs. Therefore showing that we need to interrogate our news sources more throughly in order to identify false facts.
