Product Range Distribution: Further Research/ Idea Generation
In order to develop branding the fake news awards I needed to create a basis for the content that would feature within the invites, program and other promotional material (figure 1). This lead me to look at previous tweets by Donald Trump in which he had mentioned fake news in order to create different categories for the awards as well as identify nominees/ attendees. I chose to look back at my research into Trump as 'the fake news awards' originated within one of his tweets, therefor the I wanted the contents of the awards to be informed by this tweet and others like it. Consequently I was able to identify multiple categories and attendees in order to base my content on (see figure 2-4). Interestingly whilst reading through some tweets Trump has given many of the people referenced nicknames which I though would be interesting to include within the invites as this shows the humility of fake news (see figure 5). The use of informing the content of the designs through Trumps tweets add humility to the branding which hints to the fact that its fake. This approach to hinting that the event isn't real through visual cues such as the use of security fibres allows the idea of authenticity to be explore through the design whilst still showing that the event is fictions as it never happened in the physical world.
