Product Range Distribution: Program Design Developments
To further develop the range of outcomes within this brief I've looked at creating a program/running order for the Fake News Awards including each category and the nominees (see figure 1). In order to create the content I looked at my previous research into Trumps tweets in order to identify categories and nominees. This lead to the use of phrases Trump has said about each category such as 'drain the swamp', they're all crazy, 'phoney sources; and 'more fiction than fact' (see figure 1). Furthermore in order to reinforce the need to take a second look at the branding just like you need to do with fake news I've included what each category means such as network, reporter, story etc (see figures 2-4). In addition I've included the use of MRC within the program in order to allow for a consistent theme to be shown across the branding (see figures 2-4). This is further reinforced by using the same layout within the program as seen within the invites, inspired by a passport. Therefore further adding to the consistency of the branding and enhancing the concept of the branding being based on authentication. Throughout the experimentation process the hand has been placed where a traditional passport photo would be to act as a seal of approval with figures 5 being the most successful as it fits well within the design without overpowering the text. The more refined and simple experiments (see figure 4-5) are most successful as they more effectively replicate a passport as other experiments including more information such as program under the title are too complicated making it harder to recognise the layout. Based on tutor feedback I plan to experiment with colour based on fake security fibres in order to hint to the fictitious nature of the event. In relation to the back of the program (see figure 6) the security fibre will be featured in the same way as used within the invite to allow for a consistent identity to be created.
