D&AD Times: Initial Ideas

Based on initial idea generation more developed ideas have been brainstormed, looking at how best to showcase what The Times can offer its readers.

  • Something for Everyone:
    • poster per section, highlighting the variety of news offered by The Times 
    • use colours and order of online content for layout inspiration 
  • What can you get for £26 per month?
    • looking at what else you can buy for 26 pm to highlight the quality content you'd receive.
    • Netflix, Amazon Prime and Spotify, coffee, beer etc. 
  • We Value:
    • this idea looks to highlight the values held by Times and Sunday Times, showcasing why they believe readers should subscribe.
    • use phrases readers will be aware off 
      • quality over quantity 
      • slow and steady 
    • other values:
      • knowledge 
      • trust 
      • respect 
      • accuracy 
      • dignity 
  • Know Your Times:
    • famous events from the past, use nostalgia to remind people of why The Times is so trusted and worthwhile, compliments the strap-line 'know your times' well.
      • first story 
      • first crossword 
      • famous illustrations 
      • famous stories or events
      • first quoted in court
  • Puzzels:
    • highlight the forgotten aspect of the newspaper which many may not be aware of are online also. This could be social media based with animated adverts or print based.
