In order to start visualising some of my initial ideas I started by experimenting with a simple layout based on the elevation coffee can be grown at within the Sierra Madre region, using a simple line to represent different points of elevation, 500-700 m and 1500 m (see figure 1). To further visualise the idea I experimented with different typefaces that could be featured across the packaging in order to create a consistent identity (see figure 2). The typefaces identified create a modern aesthetic to the design with those with a lighter weight and taller x-height feeling more appropriate due to the focus on elevation, with Roboto being chosen (see top 3 experiment within figure 3) as it fits these characteristics and works well alongside the line. Further development of these designs need to be undertaken in order to show the correct and relevant information on the label in order to more effectively evaluate the design as they are very primitive at the moment. In addition the line could be developed further to be a scaled down ratio of the different distances as the current design isn't accurately informed. In relation to the production of a logo for this design the logo would be a simple wordmark logo that could be easily implemented on all packaging and promotional material.
