Studio Brief 1:
Micro-Genres of music:
throughly research a micro genre of music from everynoise.com. research must b extensive with the intension that you become an expert in this genre. This micro-genre will become the focus for the design and production of a new piece of work that will be exhibited.
Design an object that celebrates an aspect of the genres specific characteristics: politics, aesthetic, production methods, audience, demographic, key intentions.
In what sense do these micro-genres help us understand some wider issues about the society that created them.
Think visually, literal and lateral approaches.
Your exhibition design object must be ambitions and be a response to your research. Don't limit your ideas, it could be:
- flag
- ringtone
- game/puzzel
- map
- clothing
- furniture
- wallpaper
Research should inform the format and type of object you chose to produce.
- Become an expert
- Consider the current state of physical media and products within 21st century music industry and culture.
- Format (cd, vinyl, mp3, streaming, etc)
- Packaging, editions, objects, etc.
- Digital vs physical
- Distribution/ purchasing/ ownership of music.

Product Range Distribution
Examine graphic design outputs relating to social, political and ethical change.
Aim to increase your awareness of historical examples plus contemporary practice that is responsive to 21st century issues
Be sure to note the interrelationships between medium, message and distribution.
You should produce a body of research work that explores the connections between these concepts.
Your research work and ideas should reflect your own ideologies, concerns and ambitions as a graphic design.
Consider the role of graphic design in 21st century society/culture and their responsibility regarding social politcal change
Brief, Part 1:
- Develop a practical, visual and contextual investigation of a specific subject
- You should aim to develop research from a range of primary and secondary sources in order to fully explore the opportunities for informed creative development.
Part 2:
devise and develop a body of practical work that both distils your knowledge of an identified issue and demonstrates your ability to tap into the market potential for socially, politically and ethically driven design
Output should still work within a broader creative and professional context of graphic design but could be based around ideas of awareness or protest.

- web/ digital platform / video / moving image / animation
- ranage of products / merchandise that communicates your identified core message ( placards, banners, set of badges)
- real world ephemera (a new product, new currency)
