Product Range Distribution: Identifying a topic/area

Brief:
Examine graphic design outputs relating to social, political and ethical change.
Aim to increase your awareness of historical examples plus contemporary practice that is responsive to 21st century issues. You should produce a body of research work that explores the connections between these concepts.
Your research work and ideas should reflect your own ideologies, concerns and ambitions as a graphic design.

In order to respond to this brief I started by thinking of topics that are particularly interesting to me:

  • Politics:
    • fake news
    • brexit
    • Donald Trump
    • general political climate
  • Equality:
    • Times Up/ Me Too campaign
    • Womens rights
    • Iceland made it illegal to pay men more than women
  • Health and Fitness
    • rise in health diets
    • power of Instagram influencers on fitness industry
  • Sport:
    • women in sport
    • pay difference between men and women
  • Fake News:
    • Trumps Fake News Awards
    • rise of fake news
    • word of the year
    • impact of 'fake news' on society
  • Body Image
    • rise in body confidence
    • objectification
  • Emerging Technology
    • VR
    • Face recognition
  • Music:
    • impact of music on politics
    • power of musicians to draw attention to social issues
Upon reflection of the interests above I've decided to research and explore fake news more due to its prominent place within the current political climate due to the impending release of Donald Trumps Fake News Awards. In addition I also think this will be an interesting topic to research and will allow for a wide range of research to be conducted.
