Book as a Communication Tool

1. Working with your assigned partner analyse the books you have brought to todays session. Identify and list the properties/conventions of your books.
Book/subject:
The Art of Forgery by Noah Charney (see figures 1-3), is a non-fictional book detailing art forgery through time and the different techniques used and how they are found out.

Properties/Conventions:

- contents
- chapters
- images comparing forgeries to origninals
- text
- blurb
- small reviews
- matt cover
- serif font

2. Acknowledge the subject matter of each of your books. Referring back to your initial list, discuss ways you could tailor/add/manipulate these conventions to communicate the subjects more effectively.

- Include sections/pages where you interact to reveal information in similar ways to the technology discussed at certain points e.g.x-ray
- Dimensions could be a scaled down version of a common frame size
- Cover could be made out of canvas or similar materials used by old master or the forgers.
-

3. Following this mornings pitch, think about how your 'clients' subject matter could be communicated through at least one of the conventions you have identified.

Personalities of beer drinker:
Dimensions
- scaled down version of keg,
- shaped in the size of the most commonly drank beer
Stock:
- similar to the paper used in beer lables
Production:
- reflect the brewing process in some way
- print in colours most commonly featured on beer bottles
