Penguin Book Cover: Design Developments

Upon reflection I've developed the initial designs seen in figure 1 further as I was unhappy with the use of purple as it was too bright and garish taking away form the detailed illustrations featured within the covers. This lead to the development of a more subtle (see figure 2), calmer purple which was placed over the whole cover apart from the spin in order to create less contrast, as in previous experimentation the contrast made the purple more noticeable therefor taking away form the illustrations which are the main focus. This full use of purple has also been applied to the inside cover over the timeline in order to create a more consistent cover. This use of purple also allows the line within the map and timeline to become clearer due to the contrast created between purple and white.
