Speaking From Experience: Pete Illustrations

This illustration was the most difficult to produce as I had to work from memory as no image was available to draw from making it difficult to develop an accurate and realistic drawing. The main issue I faces was the face shape and hair as separately they looked accurate however when placed together the illustration appeared too feminine. The lead to the alteration of a more structured jawline (see figure 2-3) as the curved nature of the illustration in figure one makes it appear feminine. In relation to the shoulders initially I'd planned to incorporate the jacket Pete always wears (see figure 3 ) however this became difficult and seemed to highlight the feminine features within the illustration so a simple t-shirt was used as see in figure 4. The addition of the goatee supported the alteration of the jaw line making the illustration more masculine and overall more realistic (see figure 4-5). The final illustration seen in figure 5 was chosen over 4 as the thinner goatee better frames the face allowing for a more realistic and simple illustration to be created.
