Studio Brief 3: Catalogue development
As a result of Raum being chosen for the branding of the exhibition additional alterations had to be made to the spread of the catalogue, such as the inclusion of orange to match the new brand colours. Furthermore everyones prints need to be collected and digitally colourised to either blue or orange in order to create a catalogue that was cheap and easy to produce. This presented a challenge when try to cor-ordinate with other groups in order to get the necessary images so I could edit and add them to the catalogue. Upon reflection I felt it was best to incorporate the images and the information into one page in order to better showcase the work within the catalogue. This lead to some issues when matching the images to the amount of information that could fit within the area on each page as restricted by the timeline, specifically when collating events from the 2000s. This was difficult as the least space was available for the information meaning fewer images could fit within the page, resulting in open space within the catalogue (see figure 1). However this layout allows for consistency throughout the book, whilst incorporating the use of the line in order to tie in with the overall identity. In relation to production the cover will be screen printed and the inside will be digitally printed using newsprint in order to reduce cost with the book being stitch-bound with orange string.
