D&AD: 3D Suko
To further develop the social media adverts, I've animated more puzzles in a 3-d format as peer-to-peer feedback found these medium engaging and more interesting than the timeline animation as these animations are quicker and more impactful. In relation to the Suko animation, I decided to have this spin on the y-axis as the box and the circles below needed to spin on the same axis otherwise the box would have overlapped with the circles. Initially, I looked at having all elements animated the same, moving in one motion however thought this was a little stagnant and didn't show off the different elements effectively. Therefore having the box move on its own with each circle spinning on its own allows each element to be animated in 3-d, creating a more interesting animation (see figure 1). The main issue with having each element move individually was making sure the timings where accurate so everything moved as one. In order to ensure this the same amount and time of rotation was used for each element by copying and pasting the effect, allowing all the elements to move as one. Overall the process was quite straightforward as the whole puzzle could be shown at once allowing viewers to identify the puzzle and its link to The Times very easily.
