Based on group discussions I've developed some more ideas based on the pattern created by Hannah, mainly looking at how individual aspects of the pattern can be used (see figures 1-2). Isolating and repeating individual elements worked well as it created more structure to the posters, meaning the pattern was less overwhelming allowing the type to be read (see figures 3-5). However, I felt this approach limited with individual elements working well for course-specific elements rather than the show as a whole. Therefore looked at developing the pattern further incorporating a shape for each course so everyone was represented within the poster (see figures 6-8). The main issue faced with these designs was how best to incorporate type due to the bold nature of the pattern. Repeating the type works well as it allows the text to be read easily, distracting from the pattern however the combination of the pattern and repeated text could be too much (see figure 7). Including the date within the repeated text is too busy, with the inclusion of the date working better when featured on its own. Placing the text around the pattern also works well with additional information featured at the bottom allowing the pattern and text to balanced each other out (see figure 8).
