In order to respond to the end of year show branding I've researched the university and analysed the brief to help idea generation (see figure 1). This mainly included researching notable alumni and the progression the university has taken from its origins within the arts and crafts market to the new build. When brainstorming initial ideas ready to present to the group I mainly focused on the idea that current graduates will be the notable alumni of tomorrow, with the potential to create a pattern based on common forms found in different alumni's work. In addition I've also looked into linking the two building and subsequently the foundation and undergraduate shows by looking at the coordinates for the buildings. Furthermore looking at the locations of both building comments on the progression of the university from veronon street to the expansion of belenhim walk. Furthermore this also comments on the students progression from foundation to undergraduate to masters, looking at the community created throughout the university. In addition I've looked at how the arts and crafts movement could be commented on in a modern way to show the origin of the university and how students still used some of these principles in a more modern/digital age.
I will present these ideas to the group in our next meeting as we decided to all conduct some research and develop initial ideas that we will discuss and develop, choosing the one we think works the best.
