D&AD Times: Puzzel animation - 3D

Upon reflection of my initial animations, I felt they were a little flat and lacked impact, therefore decided to learn how to create a more 3-dimensional representation (see figures 1-3). This involved created a shape layer from the vector image in After Effects which I then turned into a 3-d layer. Once I had a 3-d layer I could use a camera layer to turn the illustration which allowed the extrude effect to be visible, creating a 3-dimensional object. Once the object had been created I rotated the layer on its x-axis which allowed for a smooth spin to be created. This animation needs to be combined with the rest from the previous experiments to feature the rest of the puzzle and the Times/ Sunday Times logo. Furthermore, the rate of the spin could also be sped up slightly to see if a faster animation is more engaging.
