Adonis Specimen: Initial Layout Experiments

Based on initial brainstorms I've looked at different layouts to explore different concepts. The idea of having the reader gain a new perspective on the book to read the information works well as the reader needs to move their head or the book in order to read (see figures 1-5). This has been explored in different ways from the sides (see figures 1-2), on its own (see figures 3-6) and upside down so the reader has no choice but to turn the book (see figures 7-8). Personally I fell a mixture of having information on the sides and upside down would work well throughout as multiple perspectives are needed throughout the book rather than having the same application throughout. The layouts work best in black as it conceals the filled type more effectively than on white, more colours will be explored to see if any others work as well as black (see figure 9). In addition the idea of splitting the book has also been explored, by having the first half in slim columns to represent that those effected by the adonis complex see in the mirror (see figures 10-13). The alphabet has been split into single colours and spread over multiple pages to emphasise the concept feedback will be gained to see if splitting the alphabet is successful or if it's too much.
